On October 1, 2012, the Center for Migration Studies, Catholic Legal Immigration Network, Inc. (CLINIC), and Migration Policy Institute (MPI) hosted the 9th Annual Immigration Law and Policy Conference at Georgetown University Law Center.
The conference convened high-ranking government officials, academics, advocates, and other immigration experts to discuss and to offer evidence-based law and policy analysis on various topics, including: the role of states and the federal government in immigration enforcement, as well as the effects of litigation; immigration policy and the 2012 presidential campaigns; the implementation of the Administration’s Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program and other hot topics in legal service provision; and issues in protection for refugees, asylees and immigrant children. The conference also featured keynote addresses by Thomas E. Perez, Assistant Attorney General for the Civil Rights Division of the United States Department of Justice,and Alejandro Mayorkas, Director of United States Citizenship and Immigration Services.
