as data files pertaining to recent immigration.
Immigration
Forum focuses on arguments about American immigration policy.
International Labour
Organization, trilingual (English, French, and Spanish)
includes working papers, conference, documents, publications,
and on-going
activities of the ILO. It was created in 1919. In 1926,
the organization set up
a supervisory system on the application of its standards,
which still exists
today. In 1960, the ILO created the International Institute
for Labour Studies
at its Geneva headquarters. Migration is a subject that
obviously and
frequently intersects with the ILO's broader interests.
International Relations
and Security Network (ISN) is an electronic clearing
house for resources
and institutions in the field of international relations
and security studies.
It is run by the Center for Security Policy and Conflict
Research at the
ETH-Zurich in conjunction with Euro-Atlantic Foundation,
Burssels, and EINIRAS.
Migration and
Refugee Services of the United States Catholic Conference
carries out
the commitment of the Roman Catholic Bishops of the United
States to serve
immigrants, refugees and other people on the move.
It assists the bishops
in the development of policy positions, works
with
the Federal government
and local churches in resettling refugees,
and assists local churches and
specialized apostolates in responding
to the pastoral needs of Catholics
among these populations.
Organization for Economic
Co-operation and Development (OECD),
based in Paris, France, has as its
sole function facilitating social
and economic cooperation among its member
countries. Through
globalization of the world economy, national borders are,
in part,
losing their economic meaning. The policies of individual countries
are more and more affected and constrained by the interaction
of domestic
policies of one nation on those of another. Through
the OECD, member countries
seek to adapt their domestic policies
to minimize conflict with other countries.

and Ethnic Relations (ERCOMER),
contains superb links to research institutes,

Refugee Studies
Centre (RSC) is part of the University of Oxford's
International
Development Centre at Queen Elizabeth House.
Its objectives
are to carry out multidisciplinary research and teaching
on the causes and consequences of forced migration; to
disseminate
the results of that research to policy makers
and practitioners, as well as
within the academic community; and
to understand the experience of forced
migration from the
point of view of the affected populations.
Refugee Womens Legal
Group (RWLG) was established in 1996
by individuals and
organizations concerned about the impact of changes
in immigration law on women seeking asylum in the U.K.
Central among
its aims is the devellopment of a gendered perspective
on refugee law
and policy. The RWLG produced
"Women as Asylum Seekers" in 1997,
"Gender Guidelines
for the Determination of Asylum Claims in the UK"
in 1998
and, most recently, "Refugees and Gender: Law and Process."

The
International Organization for Migration
(IOM) is an intergovernmental
organization of 59 member states and 42 observers, which since 1951
has operated
programs worldwide to assist migrants and refugees
with international migration
services. IOM is committed to the principle
that humane and orderly migration
benefits migrants and society.
As an intergovernmental body, IOM acts with
its partners in the international
community to assist in meeting the operational
challenges of migration;
advance understanding of migration issues; encourage
social and economic
development through migration; and work toward effective
respect
of the human dignity and well-being of migrants.

Migration News is a free monthly electronic publication edited
by
Professor Philip L. Martin of the University of California at Davis.
