Siqi Tu is a doctoral student in sociology at the CUNY Graduate Center. She received a Bachelor of Arts in sociology from Fudan University in Shanghai, China, and a master’s degree in sociology from Columbia University. Her work is primarily within the areas of urban sociology, immigration, education and inequality. She was born and raised in Shanghai and moved to New York City in 2012. She developed her interest in immigration and urban neighborhoods as a keen observer of diverse communities in different metropolitan areas. Since Fall 2014, Ms. Tu has been teaching undergraduate-level sociology courses at Brooklyn College.
