Victor L. Anfuso (1905-1961) served as an attorney in Brooklyn, New York, as a Congressman, and as a New York State Supreme Court Justice. This collection of papers dating from 1928-1966 document Mr. Anfuso’s social and political activities and contains speeches, photographs, materials from the Congressional Record, personal documents, remarks and bills introduced and materials generated from his work on the Post Office Commission, Civil Service Commission, and the Committee on Science and Astronautics.
This material focuses on refugee assistance in the form of relief and resettlement in war-torn areas. Many materials, especially pamphlets and reports, originated from other organizations but were collected over the course of the organization’s activities. The pamphlets Guide to War Relief Services-National Catholic Welfare Conference Records, published by a number of institutions, includes topics ranging from immigration legislation, refugees, resettlement of displaced persons, and Americanization.
