Italian Americans and Religion Collection (CMS 019)

This compiled collection pertains to the religious life of the Italian immigrants and their descendants. It contains both primary and secondary materials from diocesan and archdiocesan archives of New York, Brooklyn, Newark, Boston, and Providence. Most of the materials were gathered by Reverend Sylvano Tomasi during his research. The collection contains photocopies of parish records and correspondence, clippings, journal articles, excerpts from books and copies of unpublished papers and announcements, printed letters of appeal, and parish bulletins. It also contains materials from two New York parishes, St. Brigid’s and its Italian offshoot, Our Lady Help of Christians.
