St. Bartholomew’s Church (Providence, RI) Records (CMS 022)

CMS 022 documents life in the Roman Catholic Italian-American parish of Saint Bartholomew in the Silver Lake neighborhood of Providence, Rhode Island, from 1909, shortly after the parish’s founding, to 1976, when the parish transferred the records to CMS. The collection includes correspondence, financial reports, and publications in the form of monthly parish magazines, weekly bulletins, and parish histories.
Arrangement
CMS.022 is arranged in five boxes. Correspondence, clippings, and financial reports are in Box 1. Photographs are also in Box 1. Publications start in Box 1 and continue through Box 5.
St. Bartholomew’s church was erected in 1907 to serve the residents of Silver Lake area of Providence, Rhode Island, under the direction of Reverend Belliotti from Holy Ghost Church. The parish was led by several priests from 1916 until February 1922, when Reverend Pietro Gorret arrived. Gorret served the community for over twenty-five years. A new church was built in 1969 new church under the director of Reverend Mario Boeri.
