United States Catholic Conference, Migration and Refugee Services, Offices of the Apostleship of the Sea Records Addendum (CMS 032C)
September 11, 2019

CMS032C preserves records from the late twentieth and early twenty-first century operations of the United States Catholic Conference Office of the Apostleship of the Sea, most of them generated under the tenure of Director (and Deacon) Robert M. (“Bob”) Balderas. The records include correspondence, conference programs and proceedings, financial statements, publications, and training materials generated by and received by the office. The collection documents the many Christian organizations the Apostleship of the Sea worked with in the United States, at the Vatican, and around the world. It documents these helping agencies’ daily work: providing opportunities for individual spiritual growth, fostering community spiritual life, and advocating for sailors who faced labor exploitation and for fishing communities affected by climate change.
Arrangement
CMS.032C is arranged in alphabetical order. Most folders are either subject matter or the names of agencies with which the Apostleship of the Sea collaborated.
