Analyzing the 2022 Undocumented Population Increase in the United States
March 15, 2024 01:00 PM - 01:45 PM (ET)
On Friday, March 15, the Center for Migration Studies of New York (CMS) hosted a webinar and discussion based on its recent publication, After a Decade of Decline, the US Undocumented Population Increased by 650,000 in 2022, by Robert Warren. Using data collected in the American Community Survey (ACS) conducted by the US Census Bureau, the report describes estimates of the undocumented population residing in the United States in 2022 (the most recent year with available ACS data). Warren addressed factors attributing to the increase in the undocumented population, and projected estimates for 2023. Donald Kerwin provided additional context and discussed what these numbers mean from a policy perspective. A Q&A session followed immediately after Warren and Kerwin’s presentations.
Speakers included:
- Robert Warren, Senior Visiting Fellow, Center for Migration Studies of New York
- Donald Kerwin, Senior Research Associate, University of Notre Dame’s Keough School of Global Affairs
Matthew Lisiecki, Senior Research & Policy Analyst at CMS, moderated the discussion.
