Forced Migration

An estimated 82.4 million people, including refugees, asylum seekers, internally displaced persons, and others were forcibly displaced from their communities as of the end of 2020. CMS extensively covers populations displaced by conflict, environmental conditions, persecution, and breakdowns in the rule of law.

Forced Migration

CMS’s research and policy work analyzes the forces driving people to flee, efforts in sending countries to create more secure and stable communities, and ways to create safe and legal pathways for displaced persons to move and integrate into their new communities. They also document ideological, enforcement, and legal barriers to protection and integration.
