CMSOnAir | Kevin Appleby on the Refugee Crisis and Deportation Raids
February 25, 2016
At the start of 2016, Kevin Appleby joined the Center for Migration Studies of New York (CMS) and the Scalabrini International Migration Network (SIMN) as Senior Director of International Migration Policy. Prior to joining CMS and SIMN, Mr. Appleby served as the Director of Migration Policy and Public Affairs of the US Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) for more than 16 years, and as Deputy Director of the Maryland Catholic Conference. He has testified before Congress on immigration issues and represented the US Catholic bishops on these issues at public events and with the media. In addition, he is co-editor of the volume, On Strangers No Longer: Perspectives on the U.S.-Mexican Catholic Bishop’s Pastoral Letter on Migration.
In a new CMSOnAir podcast, we welcome Mr. Appleby to CMS and speak with him on migration and refugee issues making recent news headlines, including the Syrian refugee crisis and the deportation raids on recently arrived Central Americans to the United States.
