Rev. José Juan Cervantes González, c.s. is co-director of Casa Scalabrini – Centro de Pastoral Migratoria in Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico. Casa Scalabrini is a pastoral center that combines the pastoral – theological and sociological reflection about migration with the pastoral care of people on the move who need professional and prolongated care due to particular needs that cannot been attended in other shelters of the city. Rev. Cervantes was born in Mexico City on June 10th, 1970. He has been a Scalabrinian religious since December 8th, 1997. He was ordained a Roman Catholic priest on August 28th, 2004. Rev. Cervantes has been ministering as a missionary for migrants, asylum seekers, and seafarers in Mexico, United States, Philippines, Indonesia, and Argentina. He holds a bachelor’s degree in philosophy at the Instituto Libre de Filosofía y Ciencias in Guadalajara, Mexico, and a bachelor’s degree in theology at Maryhill School of Theology (MST) in Manila, Philippines. Also, he studied sociology at the Universidad del Salvador (USAL) in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
