The Demographics of Immigration: A Socio-Demographic Profile of the Foreign-Born Population in New York State
Nadia H. Youssef
1992

Based on aggregate macro-level data on all reported foreign-born persons, The Demographics of Immigration highlights shifts in the character of immigration into New York State since 1965; draws a demographic and socio-economic profile of its foreign-born residents; compares and contrasts distinguishing characteristics among this population in relation to birthplace; and develops a typology of immigrant-supplier countries based on the human capital resources these export to New York. The Demographics of Immigration will appeal widely to Federal and State level agencies connected with data generation and data collection practices, to academic and applied research communities, to policy-makers and planners in the New York State and City public agencies, and to all those interested in the socio-demographic composition of the Empire State.
