The Mediterranean in the Age of Globalisation: Migration, Welfare and Borders
Dr. Michael Collyer, Reader of Geography at the University of Sussex, reviews The Mediterranean in the Age of Globalisation: Migration, Welfare and Borders. The book is divided into two sections, the first of which examines the impact of welfare policies in Southern Europe on immigrants in several cities. It describes these welfare systems as inadequate in terms of social services for immigrants. The second section focuses on textile manufacture and trafficking in two cities along the boundary of the Mediterranean.
