Amelia Frank-Vitale, a Doctoral Student in Anthropology at the University of Michigan, reviews Zapotecs on the Move: Cultural, Social and Political Processes in Transnational Perspective. The book provides an overview of five generations of the migration history of an indigenous Zapotec village in Oaxaca, Mexico. This history is used to examine the transnational experience of the Zapotecs from rural Mexico to urban Los Angeles, California, and the identity formation that is a part of that process.
