Migration Return: A Bibliographical Overview

Anne Marie Gaillard
1994

The paper seeks to find commonalities in the literature on the voluntary return of economic/labor migrants as well as forced migrants (displaced persons or refugees). It includes anthropological, economic, historical and psychological works, among others. The text is organized into three parts: a bibliometric analysis of the parameters of the sources, an analysis of migration returns in texts that treat migration either globally or as a sequence of phases, and an analysis of returns according to the native or host countries, including official policy toward return migration and development issues.
