Profiles on Undocumented Aliens in New York City: Haitians and Dominicans

Charles B. Keely, Patricia Elwell, Austin Fragomen, Jr., and Silvano M. Tomasi
1977

The paper examines the profiles of undocumented Haitians and Dominicans in New York City. Specifically, it looks at the personal and family background characteristics of the migrants, their participation in the labor force, their usage of social services and tax payment or withholding. The data is used to conclude that the phenomena of undocumented migration is different in the Southwest and New York City (perhaps the Northeast, more generally).
